    I was absolutely captivated watching this documentary. Both my husband and myself have been involved in education both privately and in the inner city. My question was the need for tutoring(educationally) of these youngsters. When you are this far behind in skills, merely wanting to do better does not come without some serious intervention...evaluating and tutorial. I wondered if the young man could not write his dad back because he could not write down his thoughts, or what exactly was their reading and math levels. With private money, or their mentors, this would be such a great fix to supplement the amazing experience these youngsters had in South Africa. Students CANNOT do better just because they want to-they will be more open to help. But being this far behind in school needs ...more

    I am a Ugandan living legally in America. I would like to see a report on being African in America. It is a very frustrating experience for Africans to adjust to living in America from the difficulty in breaking into the job market, despite their high academic qualifications to overcoming day to day stereotypes.

    I think that this show was very touching. I think this show has built me a little more in proceeding my goals. I think that this show is amazing. I want to be apart of The Tuxedo Ball. I want to be apart of the 18 month program for John Rice. Now I am determined to do what I want and the goals that I want to reach. I really thank the CNN channel for putting this wonderful show on the air. Just today about 20 minutes ago I was watching this show and I said to myself "I can do it"! "I am determined to"

    the reason we have a program like this, is because your ancestors immigrated here freely, and despite the initially discrimination were integrated into the mainstream Anglo society- becoming white. Your family members were not subjected to the same level of degradation. Moreover, your experience as a member of the majority community puts in the position to always know you belong- no one can question you. By the way, your comment is insensitive--- unlike you, we African Americans cannot claim any African tribe, nation, cultural group, year of arrival, language, -- nothing, so please reconsider your views.
